Super simple way to nourish your skin right from your kitchen.
After countless days of being in the sun my face is always left uneven with sunspots and enhanced/darker scars from the UV. I put together a mask that’s gentle and effective when trying to even out my skin tone and hydrate my face. Yogurt is loaded with zinc, lactic acid, calcium, and B vitamins, which all have great benefits for eating- and for your skin! Buy yogurt that is plain, has full fat and contains live cultures. I chose plain Fage Greek yogurt because it’s unsweetened and thicker than other yogurts so it won’t be as runny on your face. Lemon juice and baking soda will also help lighten your skin and shrink your pores. The last ingredients, cucumber and honey, help lock in moisture. Before applying my mask, I like to put an oil on my face which helps the mask soak in, I use coconut or sunflower oil.
1/3 cup Greek Yogurt (full fat & live cultures)
3 tbsp cucumber (about ½ of a small cucumber before food processor)
1 tbsp of honey
1 tbsp of baking soda
1 tsp of lemon
- Use a food processor to grind up the cucumber and get all the juice. Make sure you’re using less than a quarter cup of cucumber or else it will get too watery.
- Add in the rest of the ingredients to the food processor. I like to soak my honey jar in hot water before I use it so it comes out easier. If the mixture seems too runny add more yogurt.
- Put the mixture into a container you can store in the fridge for about an hour. Use within 24 hours! Use your mask after cleansing your face and applying the coconut oil. Apply a thin layer to the skin and lay flat, allow the cool mask to soak in for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and apply your moisturizer! Enjoy. -Olivia Vigo
